The Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Canada aims for Canadian Ismaili Youth to be grounded in the faith, identity, and values of Shia Ismaili Islam;
healthy, happy and resilient ambassadors for their communities, with a strong sense of belonging; and leaders in the knowledge society actively contributing to quality of life locally and globally.
Additionally, we champion active living. Young or old, we believe that active living is important to improving one’s overall mental and physical health.
Through sports, active living programs, and basic physical literacy, we aim to find more opportunities for connection among our Jamat.
About the Role
Our board is on the lookout for a strategic and creative Communications Manager to lead our communications efforts. In this role, you'll manage a talented team of 7 Comms Reps, one from each region, ensuring that our message resonates with our audience and our community stays informed and engaged.
Key responsibilities include :
- Overseeing the development and execution of a comprehensive communications calendar and strategy
- Maintaining and monitoring for consistent and risk-aware messaging across all our social media platforms (Ismaili Youth and ISA)
- Crafting compelling copy and designing visually appealing templates for our social media posts, newsletters, and announcements
- Managing the communications team and following the the Council for Canada communications style guide and communications submission process to ensure timely and effective delivery of all communications tasks
About You
The ideal candidate for the Communications Manager position will bring the following to the role :
- Proven experience in communications or a related field, with a track record of managing a dispersed team
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and coordinate a team to meet strategic objectives
- Expertise in developing and implementing communications strategies that engage a diverse audience
- Exceptional writing, editing, and design skills, with an eye for detail and brand consistency
- Proficiency in managing social media accounts and understanding of online risk management
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and adhere to tight deadlines
- Passion for youth development and sports and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within our programs and operations
