The Traffic Eng team owns Affirms critical routing and network infrastructure to run Affirms core product. Our customers are not only Affirms users, but also other engineering teams at Affirms. As a team, we are responsible for building and exposing simple interfaces of online infrastructure components. Examples of components we own include the CDN edge routing layer to cache and optimize requests to Affirms.com, the RPC layer for internal service-to-service communication, and our gateway and sidecar artifacts to control traffic.

As the Engineering Manager for the Edge Traffic Team, you will lead a group of highly technical software and infrastructure engineers to build our resilient edge infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• You will lead engineering teams responsible for Edge Traffic Infrastructure, ensuring our networking architecture evolves and remains resilient to Affirms growing needs
• You will be responsible for defining and delivering a vision, strategy, and roadmap on a year-long time scale for ingress and egress points of our system, and tie that roadmap back to business impact
• You will collaborate across teams infrastructure, security, and other engineering teams to build reliable, secure, and scalable networking infrastructure to meet the needs of our external partners and internal teams
• You will improve key metrics for availability, performance, and resiliency
• You take ownership of your team’s operations and availability by ensuring you have the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, testing and alerting in place to support “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts
• You will foster a culture of quality and ownership on your team by setting code review and design standards for your team, and advocating for them beyond your team through your writing and tech talks
• You will help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example

Employees new to Affirms typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.) In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirms Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

CAN base pay range per year : $178,000 - 228,000

Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company! The majority of our roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within the country of employment. Affirms in proximal roles have the flexibility to work remotely, but will occasionally be required to work out of their assigned Affirms office. A limited number of roles remain office-based due to the nature of their job responsibilities.
