The Sr Manager, Warehousing is responsible for all aspects of warehousing including accountability for day to day, continuous improvement, functional representation and supporting the strategic vision, as well as, compliance with the Maple Lodge Farms’ policies and vision.

What you will be doing :
- Providing leadership and coaching to direct reports in the performance of their day to day responsibilities.
- Maintains a safe working environment
- Achieving warehouse operational objectives by preparing and completing action plans, quality, and customer-service standards;
resolving problems; and achieving KPI's.
- Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with company’s policies and vision.
- Supports cross-functional supply chain initiatives and utilizes continuous improvement methodologies with team to improve performance across safety, service, quality and costs.
- A champion for metrics and scorecards to identify trends, indicate progress against specific initiatives and highlight areas of focus.
Reviews statistical reports daily (i.e., R2s, etc.) and takes steps to mitigate negative influences.
- Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements and implementing changes.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and transportation.
- Functional representation at plant meetings, including daily Sales and Ops planning, daily and weekly R2.
- Develop and maintain best practices for modern warehousing.
- Manage any 3rd party services in the day to day, ensuring they are at or above Agreement KPI’s
- Ensure FIFO and Cycle counts is followed.
- Provides overall management of a team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate supervisors and managers.
Models appropriate behavior and motivates, encourages and rewards appropriate behavior of team members.
Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance.
Address performance issues in an appropriate manner.
Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters.
Attract and retain a team that meets the needs of the organization.
- Develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching.
- Encourage the individual development of skills, ensuring that cross-training occurs to safeguard the continuing operations current and future needs
- Prepare, recommend and manage a budget for the direct area of responsibility by conducting analysis and preparing data to support requested budget.
- Manage to monthly budget. Budget is a guide but required spending and opportunities to improve should be constantly evaluated.
Any expected over spending must be approved by The Director of Logistics.
- Monitor the financial performance of area of responsibility against approved budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized on.
- Adhere / comply with company policies and procedures.
- Recommend, develop and implement enhancements and improvements to departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all employees under position leadership, follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Involved in Collective Agreement adherence and negotiations.
What you will bring :
- Minimum 10 years of experience required, including a minimum of five years in a Management role, Distribution / Logistics experience in the food industry, preferably in a ready-to-eat and unionized environment;
- Post Secondary Diploma in a related field an asset or relative equal work experience in a related field.
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
- Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
- Team-player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively, and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders;
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
- Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
- General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)
- Lean 6 Sigma Green Belt (minimum) an asset
- PLog or CITT an asset
