About The Role

DNV Energy’s Electrical Engineering team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to help shape the direction and application of the services provided by our Renewables and Power Grids group by contributing to high-impact renewable energy and energy transition projects. You will work alongside a team of seasoned experts delivering technical due diligence and advisory support across Independent Engineering (debt and tax equity), Markets & Acquisitions (M&A), Owner’s Engineering, and Electrical Engineering consulting engagements in the North American market and beyond.

In this role, you will apply your expertise in power systems, electronics, controls, and instrumentation to support project design, development, and construction. You will contribute to a dynamic, high performing team by driving innovation, delivering customer value, fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and identifying opportunities for team growth and improvement.

This position can be located in our Toronto, ON; Calgary, AB; Montreal, QC offices, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three days per week working from either a DNV office or client location / site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process. Other DNV offices may also be considered.

What You’ll Do

Depending on your skills and interests, you’ll contribute to a wide range of technical and strategic initiatives, which include :
Act and lead as a collaborative Electrical Engineering subject matter expert across projects
Author and review technical reports cross organizationally with internal teams (Independent Engineering, M&A Advisory, Owner’s Engineering)
Critically assess transmission, substation, and collection system designs, with a focus on safety, cost, and functionality
Lead proposal development and manage small to medium-sized consulting projects
Drive business development by identifying client needs, shape service offerings, and cultivate long-term relationships with key accounts
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, prototype, and deploy AI-powered tools that support engineering analysis, automation, and decision-making
Contribute to market positioning and thought leadership (committees, conferences, webinars, whitepapers, blog posts)
Review electrical designs and associated studies for solar, onshore / offshore wind, high-voltage substations, and other electric system components
Perform or review power system studies (grounding, reactive power, cable ampacity, collection system design)
Provide guidance and training in electrical commissioning, safety, and procedures
Participate in field and analytical work across the full spectrum of electric power systems, with frequent interaction with turbine, solar, energy analysis, environmental, and civil engineering experts

What You’ll Do (French)

Rédiger et réviser des rapports techniques interorganisationnels avec les équipes internes (ingénierie indépendante, conseil en fusions et acquisitions, ingénierie du propriétaire)

Évaluer de manière critique la conception des systèmes de transmission, de sous-station et de collecte, en mettant l'accent sur la sécurité, le coût et la fonctionnalité

Diriger l’élaboration de propositions et gérer des projets de conseil de petite et moyenne envergure

Stimuler le développement commercial en identifiant les besoins des clients, façonner les offres de services et cultiver des relations à long terme avec les grands comptes

Collaborer avec des équipes interfonctionnelles pour conceptualiser, prototyper et déployer des outils alimentés par l’IA qui prennent en charge l’analyse de l’ingénierie, l’automatisation et la prise de décision

Contribuer au positionnement sur le marché et au leadership éclairé (comités, conférences, webinaires, livres blancs, billets de blog)

Examiner les conceptions électriques et les études associées pour l’énergie solaire, l’éolien terrestre / offshore, les sous-stations à haute tension et d’autres composants du système électrique

Effectuer ou réviser des études de système d’alimentation

About You

What is Required

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

7+ years’ relevant experience in renewable energy projects (for example : wind, solar, battery, hydrogen, and / or power electronics)

Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE or PEng)

Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, NEC, and CIGRE standards and guidelines

Experience in electrical system design and construction (distribution, substation, generation) and electrical system studies / modelling

Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or other platforms used in engineering analytics, complemented with AI accelerators

Strong oral and written communication skills in English

The employee would be required to serve customers by in-person, email and by phone, both in Quebec and in the rest of Canada, and in the United States.
