First Point Group is urgently seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our global Electrification Solutions and Power Systems team, to support the end customer ExxonMobil. The successful candidate will lead electrification product development, provide engineering expertise on medium and high voltage electrical systems, and collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and innovative solutions for prototype and production‑intent machines.
This role requires technical mastery, leadership, and project management skills, with a direct impact on the Electrification program and long-term energy strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Interface with cross-functional teams to understand field development plans and develop electrical load forecasts.
- Lead major portions of electrification and power systems projects, managing multiple projects of moderate complexity.
- Provide engineering support including options analysis, design, AFE management, procurement, drawings, construction support, commissioning, and post‑start‑up modifications.
- Evaluate electrical transmission, substation, and distribution infrastructure to determine modifications or new infrastructure required for supporting loads.
- Monitor, assess, and correct power quality issues throughout electrical infrastructure.
- Perform root cause analysis on electrical failures and provide guidance on corrective actions.
- Collaborate with external electrical service providers (e.g., Oncor, AEP, Xcel) to ensure power availability and system reliability.
- Manage project Bill of Materials (BOM), build documentation, and mechanical durability issues using issue tracking tools.
- Stay current with state-of-the-art electrification technologies, contributing to innovation and the development of new solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers on electrification, integration, and power system activities.
- Communicate project status effectively to stakeholders, team members, and external partners.
- Demonstrate hands‑on skills in electrical system design, spatial / conceptual design, and practical problem‑solving.
- Lead initiatives in electrical system specification and selection, protective relays, switchgear, transformers, HV / MV cables, microgrids, and renewable energy integration.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (ABET‑accredited or equivalent Canadian‑accredited program) in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for P.Eng. registration in Alberta (APEGA).5–10 years’ experience designing or supporting medium / high voltage electrical equipment in oil & gas, utilities, mining, or manufacturing.Strong analytical skills, including load flow, voltage regulation, harmonics, protective relay coordination, and power system modeling.Experience in project management and oversight of third‑party engineering firms.Familiarity with ERCOT and / or SPP grid design, operation, and capabilities.Experience with electrical software modeling tools (e.g., Milsoft WindMil, ACSELERATOR, PSCAD, ETAP, SKM Power Tools).Understanding of microgrids, cogeneration, and renewable energy sources.Field-based construction and / or operations experience preferred.Knowledge of Permian oil & gas operations is a plus.Strong communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and proactive problem‑solving skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
