The Senior Developer role is with the Calgary Board of Education (CBE). This position delivers high quality software solutions across the CBE application ecosystem and environments, using the latest Microsoft technologies and other CBE approved tools.
The CBE supports a flexible work program allowing remote work up to three days per week, with a minimum of two days in the office. At times, you may be required to work in the office more than two days per week based on operational requirements.
Responsibilities :
- Conducts all aspects of design, development and implementation related to new software solutions as well as modification of existing systems and solutions
- Designs, builds, documents, implements and supports interfaces, automations, and the reengineering of processes related to applications or systems
- Ensures systems perform reliably and consistently with end user expectations
- Develops strategies and implements plans for keeping applications and systems current

Qualifications :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (or equivalent degree in information technology)5 years of current hands-on experience in software development, in the design, development and implementation of new web applications, mobile applications and system integrations using Microsoft technologies and industry best practicesExperience should include :Designing OLTP databasesWriting technical documentationGathering business requirementsTranslating business requirements into detailed technical specificationsFamiliarity with continuous build and integration frameworks, SOLID design principles, Test-driven Development (TDD) and automated unit / regression testingFamiliarity with visual design / responsive design and user experiences for web and mobile devicesExperience with Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, Visual Studio, Team Foundation ServerExperience with cloud development in Azure using the Microsoft stack is an assetMicrosoft developer certifications or other applicable certifications are assetsFamiliarity with ITIL or ITIL Certification is an assetAn equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and related experience may be consideredDemonstrated Skills and Competencies :
