Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for casual positions of Floor Tech / Personal Trainer at the Sackville Sports Stadium, in the Recreation Programming division of Parks & Recreation.

Under the direction of the Client & Services Coordinator and the Fitness Centre Specialist, the Floor Tech / Personal Trainer is primarily responsible for ensuring the Fitness Centre is member ready in a welcoming, safe, clean, and organize environment.
The trainer is also responsible for determining the safest and most effective program activities for members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides friendly, quality customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Remains up-to-date on all information regarding policies, procedures, and programs, including information communicated through email by other departments.
- Responds to member concerns. Resolves customer concerns or complains within scope of responsibility. Channels concerns to appropriate person.
Follows up on concerns.
- Assess the needs of clients in respect to their health, abilities, fitness goals, interests etc.
- Design safe training routines to meet client’s needs within the scope of practice
- Assist, encourage, and educate clients on how to use the fitness equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Take up opportunities and show commitment to what they want to achieve
- Deliver Stadium Smart Sessions ensuring completion of the program and appropriate follow-up with the clients.
- Keep current on trends relevant to fitness, personal training.
- Aware at all times of the activity in the Fitness Centre and ensuring all policies and procedures are being followed by members.
- Work as a team member ensuring the Fitness Centre is member ready (welcoming, safe, clean, organized environment).
- Ensure Fitness Centre is tidy, clean, and safe. Complete all cleaning duties, check operation and mechanics of equipment, and report any damaged equipment or safety issues.
- Books Fitness Centre consultations appointments and place reminder calls regarding appointments as needed.
- Dispenses items from First Aid Kit and reports low inventory.
- Completes incident, medical and emergency forms as required.
- Communicates and participates in special events and promotions.
- Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Must have completed Grade 12 or the equivalent and have current Personal Training Certification or Resistance Trainer Leader Certification, CPR C / AED.
- Must have previous experience as Personal Trainer / Trainer.
- Two (2) years previous Customer Service experience.
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong customer service skills with knowledge of communications, public relations and customer service principles.
- Thorough knowledge of training techniques, motivation techniques and safety practices.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; organize and manage time effectively, work effectively in a team environment or independently.
- Attend annual conferences to receive continuing education credits for industry standards.
Security Clearance Requirements : Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.
Please note Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge.
Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS : Casual, part-time
HOURS OF WORK : Flexible, up to 40 hours per week.
SALARY : $20.20 - $36.20 per hour dependent on position
WORK LOCATION : Sackville Sports Stadium, 409 Glendale Drive, Lower Sackville, NS.
