Specialist-Health and Safety (Langley BC)

Are you passionate about health and safety, skilled in driving improvements, and enjoy working collaboratively to create safer workplaces?

As a health and safety specialist , you will implement, manage and support the Best Buy health and safety management system at the western distribution centre & Geek Squad City (service depot). You will play a key role in driving continual improvement within the OHS function.

Please note : This is an on-site position, with some local travel across the lower mainland.

What you'll do :

  • Identify, monitor, evaluate and track all OHS activities through audits and record keeping methods
  • Deliver appropriate training to reduce hazards and the potential for accidents in the workplace
  • Lead the full investigation on major accidents and incidents
  • Lead the continuous improvement process to ensure OHS compliance
  • Utilize technical knowledge to identify and address workplace risks and hazards
  • Work with the senior manager to ensure that training programs are complaint to the provincial OHS regulations
  • Provide OHS knowledge, expertise and guidance to employees and key stakeholders
  • Be the key company representative with Labor and Health authorities for all OHS related activities
  • Lead all activities related to the organization's participation in provincial certification / rebate programs e.g., BC COR, ON HSEP
  • Provide occasional support to retail stores in the Lower Mainland

What we're looking for :

  • 3+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources or a related role (retail and / or warehousing experience is an asset)
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, General sciences) is preferred

    Annualized base pay range

    65,000.00 - $68,000.00
