We are currently recruiting for an Architectural Technologist!

This is a full time and permanent position.

Position Overview

Reporting to Director of Operations for Single Family, the Architectural Technologist primary responsibility is to draw complete customer home plans. This position requires a positive individual with excellent technical, organizational and communication skills that will be an integral part of the Drafting Department and will take on increasing responsibilities as experience levels grow.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Draw customer changes to standard plans including creating new alternate elevations, floor plans, details and options;
  • Create site plans;
  • Submit applications for approval to architectural control;
  • Write extra to contracts for additional architectural control requirements including clarifications;
  • Complete check-sets for other team members;
  • Request and check structural layouts and required engineering;
  • Maintain standard plans;
  • Communicate and integrate with other departments, developers, trades, suppliers and municipal or city officials;
  • Participate in drafting department meetings.

Qualifications

Diploma in Architectural Technician / Technologist or equivalent experience in design / drafting residential homes;

Minimum 3 years in residential design and drafting;

A current (within 6 months) Police Clearance Screening is required upon hire;

Ability to set priorities and meet firm deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic office;

Excellent creative, interpersonal and communication skills;

A strong desire to contribute in a customer focused environment;

Excellent technical knowledge in residential drafting;

Speed, accuracy and proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office;

Excellent knowledge of local building codes and by-laws practices;

Excellent oral and written communication skills with a focus on residential drafting;

Extremely well organized with good interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

Regular interaction with managers, staff and external stakeholders;

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals;

Overtime as required.
