IMPORTANT : Effective immediately until return of incumbent.
JOB SUMMARY : THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THIS POSITION IS TO PROVIDE ACCOUNTING SUPPORT WITHIN THE FINANCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF THE COLLEGE PURSUANT TO ACCOUNTING REFORMS IMPOSED BY THE MINISTERE DE L’EDUCATION ET DE L’ENSEIGNEMENT SUPERIEUR.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Elaborate and apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
- Review Capital invoices, verify supporting document and ensure accuracy.
- Prepare quarterly fixed assets reports in order to meet ministerial deadlines (acquisitions & amortization).
- Analyze various accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries quarterly.
- Produce and analyse various financial reports.
- Coordinate various analysis, reconciliations and other documentation required by the external auditors and provide assistance at year end.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation between general ledger and receivable (aging).
- Prepare monthly reconciliation between general ledger and payable (aging).
- Prepare monthly reconciliation between general ledger and fixed assets module.
- Analyze budget requests and transfers required.
- Liaison with all departments concerning budget vs actual.
- Participate in the elaboration and review of both the operational and capital budgets.
- Develop work tools in CLARA for budget planning
- Take part in developing and updating specific EXCEL files
- Prepare monthly GST / QST report for filing to government.
- Support Departments & liaise with the CGER (Centre de Gestion de l’equipement roulant).
- Other related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS : Education
Undergraduate degree in in an appropriate field of specialization particularly : Business administration or Accounting
Specific Requirements :
Minimum three (3) years pertinent experience preferredCPA designation is an assetProven skills in accountingBilingualism mandatory – Intermediate level French and English – oral and writtenKnowledge of provincial and federal legislation as applicable to GST, PST and statutory deductionsAbove average knowledge of MS Office applications.Knowledge of accounting software (CLARA system would be an asset)Superior inter-personal skills and discretionResults oriented self starter able to work autonomouslyAbility to analyze, interpret and evaluate information and identify solutionsExperience within the public or para-public sector is an assetTesting may be required to demonstrate knowledge of :
