Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, The Innu Round Table Secretariat is seeking a Social Worker to join their team.
The Innu Round Table Secretariat is dedicated to the collective well-being of the Mushuau and Sheshatshiu Innu. Focused on the well-being of Innu children and families, the Sheshatshiu and Mushuau Innu First Nations have established Prevention Services as the agency responsible for developing and delivering child and family support services. These services aim to assist families involved or at risk of involvement in the formal child protection system. The agency is Innu-led, utilizing a holistic approach to wellness and working towards full Innu jurisdiction over child and family services.
The goal of the Prevention Services agency, based on Innu knowledge and culture, is to reduce the involvement of Innu children and families in the current child protection system (CSSD) and mitigate its impacts, especially on children. The agency also seeks to encourage and support family and community health.
The Position
This will be a full-time position is based in Natuashish and report to the Mushuau Innu Team Lead-Senior Innu Representative. The role requires a mature individual with a social work background and a strong desire to foster meaningful social change. As part of an agency team of Innu Representatives, Community Workers and social workers you will collaborate with Mushuau Innu First Nation staff who also reside in Natuashish.
Your social work duties will be shared with two other social workers who work alternating two-week rotations in and out of Natuashish. Your direct responsibilities will include overseeing the implementation and evaluation of the Innu-CSSD Protocol. This protocol ensures collaboration between prevention services and CSSD for the continual improvement of culturally meaningful services for the Innu.
As a social worker, you will assist in advocacy services and case management processes, maintaining confidential notes and files in Sharevision. Your work will align with the Innu Care Approach, reflecting Innu culture and values.
