About the Role

War Room is looking for an Assistant Controller to be our first internal finance hire. This is a unique opportunity for a CPA with 5+ years of accounting and audit experience who wants to take ownership of both day‑to‑day accounting operations and long‑term process building.

Reporting to the CEO, you will manage financial reporting, ensure compliance, and establish scalable processes. You’ll also partner with leadership to set the finance department’s strategic goals, tie financial results to business metrics, and build a foundation for the company’s long‑term success.

Please note that this is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week in the office with the first 3 months of onboarding fully in the office. We are located at 210 W Broadway, Vancouver and our office hours are 9-5 pm.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and internal management reports.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and payroll requirements.
• Support external audits and liaise with auditors as needed.
