Job description

Site :  Toronto General Hospital

Department :   Allied Health

Reports to :  Manager Allied Health

Hours :   18.75 hours per week

Wage range :  $42.21 per hour $52.76 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy )

Status :   Permanent Part Time

Closing Date : January 18 2025

Working under the direction of the Operational Manager and in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team the Occupational therapist will assess and treat patients delegate appropriate duties to OTA / PTA provide student supervision and maintain best practice standards in accordance with UHN policies and procedures. This position will primarily support Nephrology however the patient population may change depending on department needs.

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Toronto General Hospital within the framework of patient centered care
  • Communicate effectively with members of the interprofessional team
  • Provide education to patients their families occupational therapy students and interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds meetings committees and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs / Services
  • Assist with coverage of other service areas where required. The candidate will perform all other duties as required

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and / or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
  • MoCA certification
  • 12 years experience in an acute care hospital is preferred
  • Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance
  • Experience with splinting neurological dysfunction as well as seating and positioning is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong and effective written oral and nonverbal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
