Air Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has manufacturing and distribution operations in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta.
Air Products core industrial gas business provides atmospheric and process gases serving a variety of customers in 50+ countries, including refining, chemical, gasification, metals, electronics, manufacturing, food and beverage, welding, and healthcare.

Air Products (NYSE : APD), has an immediate opening for an Employee Relations Manager in Canada. Ideally the position would be based in Edmonton, AB, however, this position could be residence-based anywhere in Canada.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Regular site visits with leadership teams to observe safe workplace behaviors, engage with employees and supervisors, and ensure compliance posters are updated and visible to all employees.
- Handle investigations, complaints, workplace harassment, and general inquiries.
- Participate in employee relations activities, monitor employee performance and attitudes, and make sound recommendations to support an appropriate outcome.
- Develop Canadian policies to support company current and future strategic objectives as well as to follow provincial requirements.
- Develop, implement, and translate company Human Resources policies for Air Products Canada according to each provincial / federal requirement.
- Ensure that corporate initiated programs meet appropriate Canadian legislation and are consistent with local conditions.
- Provide input / feedback to Global Compensation and Benefits regarding design, legal compliance issues as they relate to employees, policy interpretation, and employee communication (French / English).
- Liaise with internal and external legal counsel. Provide input, guidance, and represent the company in any legal or mediation proceedings as they pertain to employees, for example, Human Rights Commission, Provincial Worker's Compensation Boards, Provincial Labour Boards, Employment Standards, OHSA, etc.
Skills / Abilities :
- Bachelor's Degree (in Human Resources preferred)
- 3+ years hands on experience in employee relations and labor relations
- Bilingual (French Canadian / English)
- Minimum of 25% travel to site locations (required)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian HR laws and regulations
- Experience with EEO / harassment investigations and general workplace complaint resolution
- Workday or other HRIS experience (preferred)
- Experience in union avoidance strategy development and execution (preferred)
- Valid Driver's License required; good driving record
