JOB OVERVIEW : PRINT PRODUCTION SPECIALIST

The Print Production Specialist provides high quality print production services, customer service and post-production support for KPU Admin, Faculty, Staff, Students and External customers of the Print Shop.

The incumbent ensures the efficient completion of the custom publishing of Course Packs. Liaising with department faculty and staff providing support on Print & Logistics Policies & Procedures.

Coordinates the completion of the Print requisition process. Ensures the completion of all orders and coordinates the printing, finishing, packaging & delivery service for all orders in a timely manner.

Provides support with bibliography templates, copyright compliance in the Course Manual process. Also provides support in Ancillary Services where and when needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduation plus two year’s previous related office experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in MS Word MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and familiarity with Adobe Products but not limited to; InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop.
  • Ability to type 35 words per minute.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate standard office equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven ability to prepare, communicate and interpret written policies and procedures within the department and within the University environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others in English - both orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to effectively handling unusual or unexpected situations.
  • High customer service oriented, with the ability to create a positive and meaningful customer experience.
  • Proven ability to display initiative and responsibility.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond well to working under pressure and resolve complex issues in an effective manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of routine and advanced office procedures and systems, but not limited to; SharePoint, email, internet and TeamDynamex.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Proven ability to juggle and prioritize tasks, work to deadlines and demands, make responsible decisions and determine when to seek advice.
  • Proven ability to monitor and maintain inventory control for retail consumption via computerized database.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices specific to publishing, printing and university-educational retail industry.
  • Proven knowledge of University copyright clearance and custom publishing procedures.

Salary Information

Annual salary increases are based on hours worked and anniversary dates

Please note : As per the KPU-BCGEU Collective Agreement, qualified internal applicants within the BCGEU bargaining unit are given first consideration in filling this position.
