Estimator HVAC Edmonton, ABJay Pinniger of Lock Search Group has partnered with a North American Manufacturing leader within the Mechanical & HVAC space.
We are currently looking for an Edmonton based HVAC professional looking to move into an Estimator role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone from the tools looking to transition into an office setting or an existing Estimator looking to work with an industry leader.
Communication and collaboration will be a key point of this job between various internal & external stakeholders ensuring jobs are properly quoted to ensure clients are given correct information and canto continue to foster a customer first approach.
The Estimator is responsible for handling all assigned quote requests, collaborating closely with the estimating team. The estimating team compiles and submits bids for all tender requests and other quoting opportunities.
This role also involves providing technical support for quotes, preparing proposals / bids for submission, and troubleshooting issues.
Strong communication skills, self-motivation, and a willingness to learn are essential. The ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond promptly and reliably is crucial. Responsibilities :
- Review incoming bids and upload them into project management software.
- Manage assigned bids to be completed by the estimating team and ensure completion 24 hours before the deadline.
- Perform Take-Offs using Bluebeam software.
- Support Salesperson / Project Manager by assisting with processing Change Orders and Site Instructions.
- Continuously monitor the bid board and stay aware of bid closing dates.
- If unable to bid on a project, review the bid with internal stakeholders and notify the customer accordingly, or request an extension if necessary.
- Identify specialty products in advance that may require additional time for pricing.
- Stay informed about market conditions (exchange rates, price increases, trends, supply chain challenges) and apply this knowledge to bids, ensuring accurate pricing on prospective projects.
- Take and provide feedback from the Engineering and Sales teams to improve efficiencies.
- Build sustainable customer relationships and trust through open communication.
- Review Mark-Up Strategy with the Estimating and Sales teams, clearly stating what is included and excluded in bids.
- Think creatively and provide value engineering solutions when needed.
- Deliver outstanding customer service with a Customer-First approach.
- Continuously improve service quality to meet client expectations, minimize costs, and enhance the company’s competitive position.
- Engage in self-education and attend manufacturer factory / training visits as needed to stay updated on the latest product developments and software tools.
Requirements :
- 3-5 years of experience in an HVAC or Mechanical field
- Completion of a University degree, College diploma, or possession of a Red Seal
- Proficiency in interpreting Architectural and Mechanical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Enthusiastic and positive approach to the workplace
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) & Construction Software such as Bluebeam
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Proven leadership skills
- Capability to work independently under pressure
- Valid AB Driver’s license
