Aramark Canada is currently seeking skilled First Cooks to join the Dalhousie Food Services team! Reporting to the Residential Dining Manager or their designate, the First Cook is responsible for supporting the Sous-Chef in providing guidance to the culinary team in addition to preparing, cooking and serving a variety of foods to students in residence.

Job Responsibilities

• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers
• Provide support and guidance to Food Service Workers, Prep, and Grill Cooks with regards to culinary technique and best practice
• Cook required items in accordance with menu, using grill, ovens, and fryers
• Serve food on the line, replenishing when necessary
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area
• Assists with culinary auditing, temperature checking of food items within kitchen, stations, fridge’s and freezers
• Adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety and Food Safety
• May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 5+ years prep cook, grill cook, line cook experience
• 1+ years’ experience in a leadership role
• Working toward Red Seal considered an asset
• Valid WHMIS, Food Safe Advanced Certification, First Aid Certification considered an asset
• Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised
• Must be able to lift, push, pull min. 35 lbs
• Must be flexible, evening and weekend work may be required
