We are actively looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join our team in Montreal.

Mission :

The principal objective of this assignment is to provide SYBASE & MSSQL Database Administration in a fast-paced financial environment.

The missions of the candidates will be the following :

• Offer continuous primary support, 24 / 7 / 365, for all Sybase ASE, Replication Server, and IQ systems.
• Provide continuous primary database administration (DBA) support, round the clock, for both clustered and non-clustered Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Deliver 24 / 7 / 365 primary application DBA support for specific global database applications, overseeing application releases, and conducting app / data patching.
• Engage in database development, offering tuning and optimization expertise to application development and support teams on an ad-hoc or ongoing basis.
• Proactively monitor all database systems using both vendor-supplied and standard tools.
• Maintain comprehensive inventory, configuration, and documentation of deployed systems.
• Engineer high availability Database Systems based on both Sybase and SQL Server.
• Address database security baselines, policies, standard procedures, and best practices.
• Operate within the project management framework defined for IT I&P North America.
• Cross-train Database team members in all responsibilities and maintain a rotation schedule for daily and weekly tasks.
• Collaborate with application and business clients to gather requirements, design, and deploy standard systems, clearly distinguishing between production, development, UAT, and DR.
• Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment, working with the application development team and CIB business to correct and mitigate risks.
• Ensure all systems are backed up and monitored by business requirements, promptly notifying data owners of any failures.
• Guarantee optimal resilience of deployed systems, meeting disaster recovery and compliance requirements set by the business.
• Collaborate with system engineers to troubleshoot issues.
• Uphold top-notch technical skills and financial business knowledge through proactive self-learning and formal training.
• Interface with external vendors to troubleshoot complex, cross-platform issues.

Technical Skills :

• Possess advanced expertise in Sybase and SQL database concepts, development, and administration, with over 8 years of experience as a Sybase / SQL DBA in a production environment.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Sybase, SQL development, and / or Application DBA roles, showcasing strong knowledge in SQL, T-SQL, and relational database management systems (RDMS).

Well-rounded skills as both a system DBA and application DBA are essential.

• Exhibit specialized knowledge in Sybase ASE, Replication, IQ, SQL / SSIA / SSAS, as well as mirroring administration and troubleshooting.
• Have a proven track record of extensive troubleshooting, recovery, database, and application optimization, and administration experience in large and mission-critical enterprise environments, managing 50+ servers.
• Work in IT Systems, specifically in IT I&P (Information Technology Infrastructure and Production), under Capital Markets, reporting to Serge Cotrebil in Transversal Services Finance Transversal Projects Operation Core / DCF Corporate Banking Capital Markets.

Holds the position of Sr. DBA (Sybase / Mssql).

• Demonstrate strong Unix and Windows experience at a sysadmin / power-user level, coupled with programming and shell scripting skills, including proficiency in Perl.
• Preferably hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Require a minimum of seven years of Sybase experience, with an additional five years of SQL experience being a plus.
• Possess indispensable financial industry experience.
• Ability to interact with users at all organizational levels, with strong end-user support skills.
• Must be well-organized, responsible, capable of working effectively as a technical lead within a project management framework, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Able to multitask effectively in a dynamic trading environment.

Capable of providing 24 / 7 support on a rotation basis, including wearing a pager and / or BlackBerry device.

Educational Requirements :
