What Were Looking For
HBI is seeking a proactive, hunterstyle business development professional who thrives on generating new client relationships and building business from the ground up.
This position focuses exclusively on netnew client acquisition and does not include an existing book of business.
The ideal candidate brings :
- 5+ years of experience in new business development, network connection, outside, or consultative B2B sales
- Proven history of prospecting, qualifying, and closing new opportunities
- Confidence with cold calls, digital outreach, and networking
- Experience managing longer projectbased sales involving multiple stakeholders
- Established network of industry contacts and relationships (e.g., within the A&D, real estate, general contractors, consultants, and corporate business communities) that can be leveraged to generate new opportunities
- Industry experience in contract furniture, interiors, architecture, or construction (preferred)
Job Summary
The New Business Development Manager is a hunterstyle sales role focused exclusively on generating netnew clients and revenue. This position does not include an existing book of business or account management responsibilities.
You will identify, engage, and secure new opportunities within the contract furniture, design, and workplace interiors industries. This role requires a selfdriven professional who excels in prospecting, networking, and building relationships from the ground up. Youll position HBIs products and services as strategic solutions to meet client needs and then hand off new accounts to the account management team for ongoing support.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Lead Generation & Market Development
Research and identify prospective clients across corporate, government, education, healthcare, and real estate sectors.Proactively prospect through cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach,Networking events, and industry associations (e.g., IFMA, BOMA. CCA etc).Build and manage a pipeline of qualified leads using structured prospecting strategies and CRM tools.Collaborate with internal teams and manufacturer partners to identify highpotential growth opportunities.Opportunity Qualification & Sales Development
Conduct discovery meetings and needs analyses to understand client goals, challenges, workplace strategy, budgets, timelines, and decisionmaking processes.Prepare and deliver consultative proposals and tailored solutions in coordination with internal teams tailored to each clients needs.Manage longer, consultive, projectbased sales cycles with multiple stakeholders and decisionmakers.Transition qualified opportunities to Account Managers for execution and long term care and satisfaction.Relationship Building & Industry Presence
Build and maintain relationships with decisionmakers and influencers in the A&D community, 3rd party management, corporate real estate, general contractors, and development firmsRepresent HBI at trade shows, industry events, and networking functions to enhance visibilityPartner with internal sales team and manufacturing partners to host and participate in promotional events.Act as an ambassador for HBIs brand, demonstrating professionalism, credibility, and market insight.Strategic Planning & Reporting
Contribute to annual sales planning and forecasting activities.Maintain accurate lead, client, and opportunity records in CRM systems; Provide regular sales pipeline reports and insights to the VPofSales.Monitor industry trends, competitors, and new market opportunitiesProduct Knowledge & Market Insight
Maintain a strong understanding of HBIs and its manufacturers product lines, applications, and differentiators.Stay informed on emerging workplace trends including ergonomics, sustainability, and technology integration.Communicate product knowledge and market insights to clients to enhance positioning.Understand competitor products and market positioning to effectively articulate HBIs value proposition.Knowledge / Skill Requirements
Proven success in a hunterstyle, B2B new business development or outside sales role.Demonstrated ability to generate leads and close netnew accounts through selfdriven outreach.Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills.Strong organizational and timemanagement skills with high accountability and followthrough.Experience managing consultative, multistakeholder sales cycles.Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office suite, and digital prospecting tools (e.g., LinkedIn).Strong understanding of contract furniture, architecture, interior design, or related industries.Qualifications / Education
5+ years of experience in business development, outside sales, or hunterstyle B2B sales.Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Design, or a related field (preferred).Proven track record of achieving and exceeding new business revenue targets.Experience in contract furniture, interiors, architecture, or construction industries is strongly preferred.Key Competencies
