Notice of Employment Opportunity February 28, 2025 Building Services Clerk (Temporary) The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the temporary position of Building Services Clerk in the Development Services Department . Job Summary Reporting to the Manager Building Services & Chief Building Official (CBO), the Building Services Clerk has a strong customer service element and serves as a main point of contact for the Building Division. This position provides regular interactions with the public and development professionals including builders, consultants, lawyers, etc . Working within an electronic records system, the Building Services Clerk receives and reviews building permit applications for completeness and schedules and tracks inspections. This position interacts with all Building Services customers on all stages of development including application, payment / refund, project change, site inspection, enforcement and permit completion. This position researches and provides general zoning information, prepares building work orders, and subdivision letters. The Building Services Clerk is also responsible for providing clerical support for the Department , as well as performing other job duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Candidates must have a post-secondary education in Office Administration or a related field , combined with a minimum three (3) years experience in an office environment, preferably in a municipal setting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent customer service, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of construction practices, terminology, and the ability to interpret by-laws and other regulations. This position will be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Power Point and have strong sound knowledge of computer software applications and adaptability to program software are required. Candidates proficient in Building Services electronic records systems and cloudpermitting software are considered an asset. Knowledge of general office procedures, organizational skills to prioritize workloads in order to meet deadlines and strong verbal and written communication skills to properly communicate with the public and staff is required. Applicants must have knowledge and use of office equipment, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software applications. Salary The Town offers an hourly rate of $33.60 (2024), in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.2. This position is subject to a trial period of sixty (60) days of work.
