The City of Penticton is looking to fill the part-time temporary position of Youth Park Ambassador Coordinator in our Recreation Department. The Recreation Department promotes and contributes to a healthy community and enhances the quality of life for Penticton residents and visitors through planning, management and delivery of recreation, sport events and active living opportunities. This department partners with volunteers, community members and private sector providers to support recreation opportunities in the City.
The Youth Park Ambassador Coordinator oversees the Youth Park Ambassadors and ensures the smooth operation and supervision of the Penticton Youth Park during the summer months. This role involves mentoring the team, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and fostering a positive environment for the Youth Park Ambassador Team and all visitors.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee Youth Park Ambassadors, ensuring they provide general supervision and act as hosts in the Youth Park.
- Plan staff / volunteer training, team building and orientation sessions.
- Ensure Ambassadors create a safe environment free of hazards, bullying, and vandalism.
- Promote appropriate usage of the Youth Park and implement the Helmet Education & Awareness Program.
- Provide minor first aid when required. Complete incident reports and follow up with supervisory staff.
- Act as a host to the general public visiting the Youth Park.
- Build relationships with visitors, creating a sense of trust and respect.
- Provide appropriate authority to visitors, ensuring respect for the Youth Park and others. Implement the expected helmet bylaw for the Youth Park.
- Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate supervision and authority to members of the public.
- Liaise and communicate with the Recreation Program Coordinator, Penticton Recreation Staff, parents and community partners.

Schedule :
June 2 - Sept 26, 2025 (Approximately), 20-35 hours per week with varied shifts between 9 : 00am - 9 : 00pm
Wage :
20.00 - $21.00 per hour
Benefits :
Additional 15.5% in lieu of benefits, vacation and statutory holidays
