We are presently accepting resumes for a number of Youth Worker Summer Student to assist youth with an intellectual disability or complex needs to engage with their peers in a social setting : to assist the Youth Engagement Facilitator with planning and implementation of activities and programs; to lead a small group of youths with disabilities in a variety of community, social, recreational and work activities.
This is a full-time position until August 31, 2025. This position works 30 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) with an hourly rate of pay of $21.11. Please note that this position is contingent upon funding approval through the Federal Government Canada Summer Jobs program.
There is a potential for extension of employment 1-2 evenings per week following the Summer to support Empower Simcoe's weekly Youth Program from September to June, excluding planned school closures.
Minimum requirements of this position include :
- Completion of secondary school and enrolled in post-secondary education; social services or related field preferred
- Previous experience working with children and youth; previous experience with youth with exceptionalities is preferred; recreation, camping or mediator experience an asset
- A valid class G driver's license and reliable transportation is an asset
- Current valid certificates in CPR and First Aid would be considered an asset
Overview of Duties (including, but not limited to) :
Program implementation and delivery
interaction with the youth
Financial monitoring
Personnel planning and supervision
