We seek Sessional Instructors for our Child and Youth Care Program to deliver courses when needs arise during 2025 terms and up to Spring term 2026.
About this Role :
Faculty are responsible for preparing and delivering classes, designing and grading student assignments and tests, and facilitating student integration of theory and practice. Courses may be offered face-to-face or online (predetermined). Faculty will also participate in program and faculty meetings, liaise with support staff, other staff and faculty. Vancouver Island University places an emphasis on teaching excellence and also encourages scholarly activity and community involvement.
Successful candidates will be responsive to diverse cultural and academic backgrounds and learning styles.
This position may require travel to a variety of practice settings on Vancouver Island.
Required Qualifications :
- PhD in relevant field, or Masters' degree in Child and Youth Care or related field and 7 years experience in Child and Youth Care.
- Recent practical experience working with children, youth, and / or their families in community based settings, knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal ways of knowing and cultural teachings.
- A demonstrated understanding of Child and Youth Care orientation to practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer competence.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and have a satisfactory driving record.
