Our client in Niagara Region, ON is actively looking for a Welder to join their team.
Position Description:
  • Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the responsibilities of the Industrial Welder's duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and welding process specifications.
  • Performs all kinds of welding, brazing, and cutting on various types of metal, using gas or electrical welding equipment.
  • Selects materials in accordance with suitably for the job and plans tasks accordingly.
  • Makes simple calculations.
  • Rigging, hoisting and the ability to operate a forklift is required in order to move materials within the worksite.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Detects and reports defective equipment and material handling devices to the Supervisor.
  • Ensures compliance with all ASW Steel Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Works along with NDT inspector to complete annual NDT inspections on material handling and lifting devices.
  • Completes all other dues as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must be a certified Welder and holds a valid CWB or TSSA welding ticket.
  • At least years of working experience as an Industrial Welder, preferably in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts (days, nights, and afternoons), overtime as required and the occasional weekends.
  • Demonstrates an aptitude for reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and any other written instructions.
  • Proven trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills, mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Able to multi-task projects and meet production deadlines.
  • Superior analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong safety track record.
  • A strong willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean environment where adaptability, innovation and hard work are valued above all else.
