Recreation Services Assistant
18 Month Term
The Town of Slave Lake is seeking a dynamic person to fill the Recreation Services Assistant Role.
This is a permanent, full-time position focused on providing an exceptional guest experience for the residents of Slave Lake. This position ensures the success of events and programs through administrative support, the facilitation of set-ups and take-downs, and overall guest experiences at the Multi-Rec Centre. This position requires afternoon, evening, and weekend work. This position reports directly to the Recreation Assistant III.
EMPLOYEES THAT REPORT DIRECTLY TO THIS POSITION:

SALARY:
$21.96 - $27.67 per hour
AUTHORITIES OF THIS POSITION:
- Make day-to-day routine decisions according to established policies and procedures and standard office practices.
- Use a pleasant manner and sound judgment when dealing with the public and staff.
- Exhibits discretion and confidentiality in the handling of organizational information/matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Membership sales,
- Process payments for drop-ins and rentals at the Multi-Rec Centre Facility,
- Assist with the effective scheduling of all joint and municipally managed recreation facilities.
- Promotion and advertising for programs and events,
- Monitor and update web-related promotions (i.e. Facebook),
- Reception duties including providing administrative support to the Community Services team with tasks such as invoicing, agenda and minute preparation and other tasks as needed,
- Registration and membership processes and procedures,
- Using Canva or other specified software, prepare program guide for print production and other promotional material,
- Facility scheduling,
- Assist with the setup and take-down of recreational and social programs and events,
- Perform other duties as assigned,
- Community events and program assistance.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 12 Diploma,
- Three (3) years related work experience,
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors Screening,
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License,
- First Aid and CPR,
- Office Administration Certificate would be considered an asset.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Computer experience is necessary (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Website development, Canva, Activenet),
- Superior communication skills, proven time management skills and organizational skills required,
- Good interpersonal skills in working with co-workers and the public,
- Flexible to work in an ever-changing environment,
- The ability to lift up to 30lbs,
- Willing to work independently,
- Able to work as a team member,
- Demonstrate an ability to work with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasional light lifting.
- Long periods of sitting.
- Extensive use of computers and telephones.

- Normal working day consists of a maximum of 7.5 hours; however, occasional extended hours may be required.
