The Lazaridis Students’ Society Executive Leadership Team consists of the Co-Presidents and seven Vice Presidents who are responsible for overseeing and leading their respective portfolio. Time commitment will fluctuate throughout the year with a minimum expected time commitment of 20 hours per week. Vice Presidents are expected to attend weekly meetings with the Executive Leadership Team and weekly Full Team executive meetings, alongside facilitating meetings with their own team.
Description of the Role : Vice President, Finance
As the Vice President, Finance, you will oversee the fiscal reports of the Lazaridis Students’ Society and our subsidiary clubs. Specifically managing the budgeting process for clubs, the creation of an internal budget working with the rest of the Executive Leadership team, and managing internal spending. You are an analytical thinker, with a keen ability to craft functional financial solutions to achieve maximum value for our stakeholders. You are highly articulate in financial literacy and deal effectively with ambiguity. Your work ethic drives your success, handling all reimbursements internally for the Lazaridis Students' Society and externally for our subsidiary clubs. You will oversee and enforce key operating documents, ensuring that all spending is both ethical and insightful. You will also be responsible for updating key operating documents and may be required to develop new operating documents as needed. You are passionate about ensuring the contributed capital of our stakeholders is wisely managed and handle highly sensitive and often confidential materials about internal operations with a professional presence.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be a student enrolled in a Lazaridis program (BBA, Economics, or Double Degree)
- Passionate about providing value for the students in the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics in line with the Presidents’ strategic vision
- Exceptional leadership abilities
- Ability to work well in a team dynamic, but also autonomously during a demanding schedule
- A self-starter who takes initiative
- Excellent work ethic, always meeting, and at times exceeding, the expectations of your weekly responsibilities
- Creativity and the ability to adapt in a changing environment
- Enthusiasm and a positive attitude, contributing to the culture of the LazSoc team
- Discipline and integrity, setting the example for the rest of the Executive team and the Lazaridis School community as a whole
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders such as the Students' Union, KW Businesses, Charity Organizations, Corporate Sponsors, and Clubs
- Finance experience is required for this role
