Position Information :
Registered Practical Nurses are responsible for practicing within their scope to provide safe, competent, ethical, evidenced based patient care using professional knowledge and critical thinking while meeting practice standards of the College of Nurses and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Essential Job Functions :
1.Assesses the health status of assigned patients on the unit as outlined in the Standards of Nursing Practice.
2. Works with the patient and family / caregivers to formulate a patient centered plan of care.
3. Advocates for patients to achieve optimal patient outcomes within Expected Length of Stay.
4. Utilizes time management skills to organize plan and provide care to patients.
5. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team, promoting an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
6. Participates in problem solving, planning, implementation and evaluation of Patient safety and Quality Improvement initiatives.
7. Expectation to attend work on a regular basis for all shifts including Days, Nights, Weekends and Holidays
Qualifications :
- Current Certificate of Competence as an R.P.N.
- Current CPR Certificate.
- IV initiation and maintenance skills required.
- Experience in Medical / Surgical nursing within the past year essential.
- Medication Administration Certificate mandatory.
- Satisfactory vulnerable person’s sector criminal background check.
- Internal candidates must have satisfactory attendance and performance appraisal in current position.
- Documented commitment to continuing education through inservice, staff meetings and self-motivated learning.
- Reliable and punctual
- Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
- Commitment to Patient Care & Safety and Service Excellence.
