Job description

MBW Courier Inc, Part of the Municipal Group of Companies has become a leader in the transportation industry by providing unmatched quality service to our customers and employing quality employees. Our services include Courier Services, Light LTL, and Third-Party Logistics to the province of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. We are currently looking for a Class 1 Night Driver to join our team based out of Sydney, NS.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Terminal Manager, the Class 1 Night Driver is responsible for loading and unloading freight, sorting freight, and ensuring all customer freight is delivered and picked up within the specified guidelines and company policies and procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform Daily Pre-Trip and Post Trip Inspections on Tractor & Trailer.
  • Complete Hours of Service.
  • Follow all applicable traffic laws.
  • Keep their truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Load & unload freight through a variety of mechanisms & delivery assistance devices (ie: pallet jacks).
  • Use technology to map routes, deliver/pickup/track shipments & communicate universally.
  • Maintain an accurate variety of daily paperwork and turn it in accordingly.
  • Performing all customer tasks in a polite, resourceful, and professional manner with overall excellent customer service throughout the process.
  • Any other duties as required.
  • Be aware of surroundings at all times when performing your duties.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Report any incidents encountered on the road in line with the company reporting policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience driving professionally.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Reliable and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
  • Must have good listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License required.
  • High School Diploma
  • Clear criminal record check.
