POSITION SUMMARY :
The Occupational Health Nurse will have responsibility for the management of employee illness / injury related absences, and support return to work processes. Working with the Director of Occupational Health & Safety, they will support the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of occupational health program initiatives and lead health promotion and wellness activities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Disability Case Management
o Lead case management of employee absences and accommodation requests due to injury / illness
o Assess medical documentation, identify functional limitations, and support the development of appropriate modified duties and accommodations
o Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential health records in accordance with legislation, best practices, and organizational policy
o Act as a key point of contact for employees navigating the disability or accommodation process, ensuring clear, empathetic communication
o Liaise with benefits providers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant case resolution
o Consulting with SE’s Occupational Health Physician as needed
o Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health and safety programs
o Contribute clinical expertise to occupational health and safety discussions, risk assessments, and policy development as needed
o Building and maintaining strong working relationships and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
o Co-ordinate and implement influenza vaccine clinics in collaboration with local leaders
o Stay up to date on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to occupational health and safety, and disability case management
o Leadership and participation in relevant organizational processes, consultation, and training
o All other reasonable duties as assigned
