The Senior Director, Corporate Supply Chain Management is a critical leadership role within Seaspan, focused on the procurement and management of Seaspan’s Supply Chain for Marine Group and Shipyards repair businesses. The role is also accountable for Warehousing & Logistics for the entire Seaspan organization including Vancouver Shipyards.
This position oversees the management of a regional supply base; and ensures best-in-class vendors and best costs, along with identification of alternate sources of supply for business continuity. They will drive initiatives and continuous improvement projects targeted at achieving or exceeding operational metrics. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, and exceptional team player, and will manage activities within this group targeted to deliver high-impact results.
The position ensures that company-wide policies and procedures provide sufficient governance and risk mitigation, are cost-effective, and fully support operational demands while ensuring a high standard of integrity and internal controls.
Note : This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What you'll do
- Lead and implement large-scale procurement change initiatives in a complex structure.
- Develop, design, and implement supply chain business models to support changing organizational requirements.
- Support the operational requirements of Seaspan Shipyards and Marine Group operations.
- Lead, manage, and report on the Corporate Supply Chain roadmap of initiatives, ensuring priority, status, and resourcing requirements are met and communicated effectively.
- Manage staff activities, including goal setting, performance evaluations, development plans, succession planning, compensation, and time management.
- Ensure the team’s skill sets meet current and future needs by regular feedback and coaching.
- Provide direct leadership for the management of supply partners. This includes contract and price negotiations, alignment of technology and roadmaps, and capability and capacity alignment with business strategies.
- Develop and present annual budgets and monthly forecasts for Corporate Supply Chain departments, including periodic reporting of key variances. Responsible for achieving department KPI metrics.
- Own and manage the procure-to-pay policy. Monitor policy compliance through regular review of KPIs and Management Reports.
- Implement corrective actions in support of the procurement and inventory systems.
- Oversee the ERP system as it relates to inventory and purchasing modules and continue to develop the processes and tools required.
- Identify and develop key strategic supplier relationships, negotiate key supplier arrangements, and, if necessary, rationalize supplier base to an optimal level through tendering and selection of preferred suppliers. Monitor contract compliance and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance throughout Seaspan.
- Analyze inventory levels, identify key items, and rationalize inventory items. Determine optimal inventory levels and establish economic order quantities.
- Oversee the strategic management of warehousing operations, ensuring optimal inventory control, efficient space utilization, and alignment with organizational supply chain goals.
- Upon request, assist management with the annual and 5-year budgeting process by providing indicative pricing for future operating costs.
- Participate, as necessary, on behalf of Seaspan, in industry associations (e.g., Business Council of British Columbia – Industry Council for Aboriginal Business).
- Lead as a role model for Seaspan’s cultural values.

The estimated salary for this position is $209,931 - $251,917. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
