The Position
is accountable for safe operations including student safety, ensuring vehicles are maintained in a safe condition, safe handling of vehicles and responding to emergency situations. This is an exempt position and as such is not eligible for overtime and it is not part of a Union. Duties to Commence : July 2, 2025Hours : 40 hours / week, minimum 8 hours per dayWork Year Base : Twelve (12) months per yearAnnual Salary Range : $93,859 - $117,324Job Duties : Maintain a cost-effective schedule of bus routes in accordance with Board and Ministry Policies; tracking time for each route and updating on a regular and consistent basis as students change Manage and maintain bus fleet and all maintenance department vehicles and equipment. Hire, manage and oversee transportation staff including bus drivers, contract bus drivers, mechanics and dispatcher while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently Prepare bus contractor pay statements monthly as well as bus driver reimbursements (as required) Responsible for ensuring that all district vehicles are properly licensed, insured and inspected Administer and track all district fuel cards Assist in the set-up of department annual budget Monitor department budget and ensure billing is correct and coded appropriately Order and purchase supplies and maintain inventory of shop equipment and supplies Arrange training for department as required Process driver pre-trip reports daily Make decisions regarding safe operations of school busses in inclement weather Drive bus routes as needed during emergencies, including cancellations due to staff shortages Establish and maintain policies and procedures for Transportation operations Assists with security of facilities such as reviewing security camera footage on premises or on buses Communicate with public and mitigate public concerns On call duties is required Perform other related duties as required Qualifications and Attributes : Minimum Grade 12 Journeyman Mechanic is preferred Vehicle Inspection Certification is preferred Thorough knowledge of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and CVSE regulations Ability to organize the work including the planning and scheduling of driving and prioritizing maintenance and repair of all District vehicles 3-4 years proven recent experience in a Management or Leadership Role Valid BC class 2 driver’s licence with air brakes endorsement and a clean driving abstract Able to pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check Thorough knowledge of school transportation requirements Please Note : Proof of graduation and or highest level of education is required prior to starting work For more information
