Part-Time Nanny / Family Assistant

About Our Family

We are a warm and thoughtful family of five living in Windsor, Nova Scotia, looking for a kind, grounded person to become a trusted part of our home.

Our family includes three children :

• Our son (14)
• Two daughters (7 and 10)

Our son has special needs, including speech delay and some behavioral regulation challenges (none violent). What helps him most is structure, patience, emotional steadiness, and consistency. Someone who can stay calm, gently redirect when needed, and celebrate small wins with him will make a meaningful difference in his daily life.

He attends middle school during the week and travels by school bus.

Our daughters are active, curious, and love sports — especially skiing in the winter — but they are also big readers and enjoy quiet creative time at home.

We value kindness, emotional intelligence, and a calm home environment. Our household runs best when everyone works together with mutual respect and flexibility.

We hope to find someone who enjoys being part of a family environment and who finds meaning in supporting children as they grow.

The Role

This is a part-time nanny / family assistant role :

Monday to Friday

4 : 00 pm – 8 : 00 pm

Approximately 20 hours per week

There may occasionally be some weekend flexibility, and we are open to adjusting the structure slightly for the right person.

Responsibilities include :

• School pickup for the girls (family vehicle provided)
• Driving to occasional extracurricular activities
• Preparing family meals
• Laundry and light household organization
• Helping with evening routines (showers, wind-down, bedtime)

We are not looking for someone to “run the house” — rather, someone who can support the rhythm of family life in a calm and caring way.

Who Would Be a Great Fit

We are looking for someone who is :

• Warm, patient, and emotionally grounded
• Comfortable supporting a child with special needs
• Reliable and able to maintain a consistent weekly schedule
• Present and engaged with the children during work hours

Experience working with children with additional needs is highly valued.

Backgrounds that would be especially welcome include :

• Psychology
• Child development
• Education or early childhood education
• Holistic health or wellness
• Music, art, or other creative fields
• Experience working with neurodivergent children

We deeply value someone who understands that working with children is relational work, not just a job.

Requirements :

• Valid driver’s license (family vehicle provided)
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (we can assist)

Pay & Flexibility

25 per hour

We believe in treating the right person fairly and respectfully, and we are open to discussing details if there is a great fit.

If you live more than 20 km from Windsor, we are happy to cover driving costs so distance is not a barrier.

One additional note :

Our family plans to spend the summer in Halifax. The position would continue during this time, although the daily rhythm may shift slightly with the kids being out of school.
