CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Technologist
Location: Greater Toronto Area, ON
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation:$75,000–$85,000
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Technologist to join their growing manufacturing team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this individual will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting CNC machining processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
This position combines hands-on CNC programming and setup responsibilities with process improvement initiatives, fixture design, technical troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will support production, engineering, and quality objectives while contributing to operational excellence, efficiency improvements, and cost control initiatives across the manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities
·CNC Programming & Machining Support
·Develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs to support efficient and accurate machining operations
·Support CNC setup activities and validate machining programs when required
·Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow
·Ensure machining processes meet quality, safety, and production standards
·Tooling, Fixture & Process Design
·Support tooling selection, fixture design, and process optimization initiatives
·Recommend improvements to machining methods, tooling utilization, and setup efficiencies
·Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturability and workflow efficiency
·Continuous Improvement & Technical Support
·Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction
·Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiencies
·Provide technical support to production teams and assist with troubleshooting manufacturing challenges
·Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training
·Work closely with operations, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to support manufacturing objectives
·Assist with training and technical guidance related to CNC machining processes and best practices
·Support communication between departments to ensure alignment on production and quality goals
·Additional Responsibilities
·Operate CNC machinery when required to validate programs or support production demands
·Maintain housekeeping, safety, and preventive maintenance standards within the CNC area
·Support preventive maintenance initiatives by identifying tooling, lubrication, or machine-related concerns
·Liaise with vendors and suppliers regarding tooling, equipment, and technical solutions

·Solid technical understanding of CNC machining, tooling, fixturing, and manufacturing processes

·Effective verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
·Strong organizational and time management abilities in a fast-paced production environment
Qualifications
·Diploma in CNC Machining, Tool & Die, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, or a related field
·3–5 years of CNC programming and machining experience within a manufacturing environment
·Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and fixturing
·Experience using CAD/CAM software
·Advanced experience with Mastercam and SolidWorks
·Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing environments preferred
·Exposure to cost estimating, automation, or advanced machining technologies considered an asset
Working Conditions
·Combination of office and shop-floor responsibilities within a manufacturing environment
·Ability to stand, walk, crouch, and work around CNC machinery for extended periods
·Manual handling of tooling, fixtures, and components within safe lifting guidelines
·Exposure to industrial noise, machining fluids, and standard manufacturing conditions
·Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
