Develop, implement and monitor a planned maintenance program for all forklifts
Ensure safe work practices are undertaken at all times
Communicate planned maintenance schedules and out-of-service breakdowns to Operations Manager / Coordinators
Diagnose and perform, supervise, or outsource maintenance and repair work on all forklifts and test before returning the equipment to service
Maintain a parts inventory for the purpose of forklift maintenance
Maintain a parts sourcing and service outsourcing database
Work with Operations to create repair budgets and estimates
Assist in the development of skill sets for trainees and apprentices and other maintenance and warehouse staff
Use the assigned floor space efficiently, keep the area clean, and maintain tools within the maintenance area in good working order
Complete work order documentation for forklifts
Assist in the specification of new forklifts and in the retirement decision for old equipment.
Requirements
Must have a forklift mechanic license 282E
Must have a Provincial Certificate of Qualification and / or Certificate of Apprenticeship or equivalent in one of the following : Power Lift Truck Technician , Diesel Mechanic , Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Has sound knowledge of gasoline, diesel and propane fuel systems, motors,
braking systems, hydraulics, Electrical systems, powertrain systems
etc., asfound in forklifts, trucks, tilt and load vehicles, gantries, scissor lifts,
