Job description

Position Title: Purchasing Coordinator - Brooks Shop Location: Brooks, AB Position Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Purchasing Coordinator to join our team.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is adept at managing a wide range of purchasing activities, including the organization, acquisition, stocking, and dispersal of inventory.

This role requires a mechanically inclined individual with proficient computer skills, exceptional multitasking abilities, and the capacity to perform urgent tasks as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Completion of toolbox & FLHA’s for shop & yard activities, ensure crews are complying with League PPE requirements for work within yards.

Efficiently organize, acquire, stock, and disperse inventory, focusing o n small equipment, tools, and supplies for field crews.

Execute purchase orders and manage supplies inventory with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

Adapt to the evolving needs of the organization, showcasing an ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Maintain accurate inventory and certification records for small equipment, tools and supplies.

Manage and input data into inventory tracking sheet.

Source the appropriate small equipment, tools and supplies required for construction operations with a cost efficiency mindset.

Work collaboratively with other departments and offices to ensure efficient small equipment, tools and supplies sharing.

Complete field hot shots/delivery of small equipment, tools and supplies to various project locations throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia as required.

Participate in League’s NSC program in order to perform field deliveries.

Demonstrate mechanical inclination by understanding and sourcing the appropriate small equipment, tools and supplies required for operational success.

Service small equipment such as generators, small water pumps, etc.

Complete maintenance tasks, including seasonal responsibilities like snow clearing, grass mowing, weed spraying, etc.

Ensure cleanliness and proper inventory of crew trucks and job vans.

Cleaning and washing of heavy equipment as required.

Assist Field crews with loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper handling and logistics.

Accurate & descriptive timesheets submitted prior to the next day.

Manage one to two employees and assign shop and inventory tasks.

  • Supporting Leagues maintenance department with equipment wash records and other required documentation on small equipment.

Attend daily meeting to review activities.

Work is Monday to Friday with every second weekend on-call.

This role is 50% desk work and 50% hands on tasking in a shop environment.

Qualifications and Skills: Proven experience in purchasing, inventory management, or a similar role.

Proficient computer skills, with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.

Mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of tools and consumables used in field operations.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license.

Able to drive larger 1-ton or 2-ton trucks while pulling trailers and comply with NSC driving regulations.

Cargo securement.
