Job descriptionEvaluate the effectiveness of social programs Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups to assess their situations and problems to determine the types of services required Take authorized protective action when necessary Provide counsel and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems Plan assistance programs for clients Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services Provide public education and consultation regarding counseling services, issues, and methods Conduct social research Write research papers, educational texts, and articles Apply for social program funding Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, or symposia Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling and patient outcomes Provincial certificate of registration Membership in a provincial association of social workers Criminal record check Work under pressure Manage large caseloads Participate in government or community programs supporting newcomers and / or refugees Recruit newcomers and / or refugees displaced by conflicts or natural disasters (e.g., Ukraine, Afghanistan) Provide awareness training to employees to foster a welcoming environment for youth Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations Provide cultural competency and awareness training to all employees to create an inclusive environment for Indigenous workers Implement hiring policies that discourage discrimination against visible minorities (e.g., anonymized hiring processes)
