The Ulkatcho First Nation is one of four communities making up the Dakelh or Southern Carrier tribal nation in central British Columbia. The Ulkatcho community and offices are located in scenic Anahim Lake, with access to an unparalleled natural beauty.
The Ulkatcho government is responsible for 22 reserves with a population of 729 members living on-reserve, and another 200 living off reserve.

About the Opportunity
Ulkatcho First Nation has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Operations Manager to join our team in Anahim Lake, B.C.
Reporting directly to the Chief and Council, you will be responsible for directing and overseeing the daily operations of Ulkatcho First Nation. You will serve as a bridge between department directors and Chief and Council, provide leadership to the team, and continuously promote First Nations' philosophy and the company's mission and values.
Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Participating in the creation of strategic goals in conjunction with the management team, and communicating these goals across the organization
- Working with the Finance Director to create the annual budget, and upkeep accurate financial management and reporting
- Directing and establishing policies, procedures, and programs for Ulkatcho First Nation (KPIs, Performance Management Systems, Expense Management, Safety Training, Technology, etc)
- Maintaining open and transparent communication with, and providing valuable feedback and advice to Chief and Council
- Ensuring that the payroll processes are compliant with applicable laws
- Liaising with all inside and outside stakeholders, including heads of departments, government officials, agencies, and the public, to promote a positive and engaging public image for the organization
- Monitoring staffing requirements, participating in hiring and developing new team members, and ensuring that performance reviews and career planning activities are completed
- Making sure that the culture of the organization remains true to the mission and values of Ulkatcho First Nation
- Coordinating departmental programs, such as meetings, seminars, workshops, special projects, and events
- Scheduling, attending, and presenting at Board Meetings as necessary
- Ensuring that the office facilities are in compliance with safety regulations, such as local fire codes, handicap access, etc
- Valid BC driver's license and clean driving record
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Understanding of First Nations culture and customs (First Nations heritage preferred)
- Strong knowledge of accounting procedures involving procurement, travel, and budget management
- Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse, and transportation management
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and services ordering, and inventory control
- Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
- First Aid skills and / or certificates (asset)
- Experience working in a municipality or government office (asset)

About You
To qualify for this position, you must have a Degree in Business Administration or a related field of study, as well as a minimum of 5 years of experience as an Operations Manager for First Nations communities or a similar leadership role. You will join us with exceptional business acumen and experience overseeing multiple departments within an organization.
