Job description
We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Hamilton, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule:
  • 24 hours per week (Temporary Coverage: March 16 - 20 ONLY).

Job Duties:
  • Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
  • Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
  • Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
  • Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
  • Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
  • Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
  • Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
  • Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license is an asset.
  • We will NOT consider RELOCATION - Must be a resident of Hamilton and/or the Surrounding Area.
