Reporting to Manager, QE / QA, t he role of the Quality Engineer is an intrinsic part of new product introduction. This role supports the establishment and deployment of quality engineering principles, structure and processes. This role is responsible for quality planning and quality risk management; determination of Critical Quality Characteristics (CTQs) of new products as per customer needs, establishment of product quality and process controls, and deployment of the quality plans to operational levels.
The Quality Engineer also supports pilot studies, process design and process validation for new product launches. This role also entails ensuring that a product or service provides a high level of quality that meets customer expectation.
Key Accountabilities :
- Facilitates the Risk Assessment process throughout the New Product Launch process and ensures that actions are implemented to mitigate the identified Risks.
- Ensures the adherence to the New Product Launch process through Stage Gate process.
- Plans the quality measurement and controls on processes to provide consistent quality results. Identifies critical product quality requirements and areas with potential risk;
- Effectively plan, define test strategy, provide quality assurance estimate, and provide test management and test reporting throughout the product cycle;
- Defines quality requirements for new products; verifies process design capabilities during pilot and scale-up;
- Develops and maintains quality standards and requirements for new products; implements inspection plans for new products and updates current inspection plans as necessary;
- Works closely with Process Engineers in the establishment of critical process parameters affecting the quality consistency of the products; performs reliability studies, risk assessment, and failure investigations;
- Ensure appropriate quality processes and controls are in place to meet product quality standards; ensures that the products are meeting or exceeding expectations, effective, and free from defects . It involves analyzing a product under various conditions and confirming that it conforms to specifications;
- Develops process characterization studies, conducts statistical analysis of results to identify critical parameters and improves process capability. Collects process validation data and results; then write or review validation reports;
- Supports technical troubleshooting / failure investigations involving manufacturing non-conformances and product failures by leading or participating in risk assessment and technical reviews.
- Develops and evaluates quality process sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques
- Supports validation studies of processes; participates on technical project teams as subject matter expert on quality requirements; may develop and review validation protocols and final reports.
- Supports the execution of validation studies by collecting data and analyzing results; recommends revision of product specifications and processes, if necessary
- Assist in development of standard making instructions (batch making) and filling / packing instructions of a particular product after successful pilot and scale up studies.
- Train employees in inspection, statistical, and problem-solving techniques.
- Provides support for customer representatives in regards to quality issues; serves as resource for problem identification and resolution
- Supports in the investigation for customer quality complaints; internal quality issues and quality concerns of new product launches
- Apply principles and techniques underlying Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
- Define, implement and sustain quality control strategies to maintain product quality
- Ensure the reliability of test equipment and execution of products
- Provide leadership and vision in the use of data along with structured problem-solving framework
