Public Affairs Coordinator for financial markets regulatory client, downtown Toronto.

Job Type : Temporary.
Initial Term : From January 6, 2025 to March 31, 2025, with anticipated longer term extension, subject to client business requirements.
Compensation : From $38 per hour to $40 per hour, according to experience.
Regular Work Hours : 7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35.0 work hours per week).
Work Location : Hybrid - combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client's downtown Toronto office, on PATH and near TTC station.
Responsibilities Summary :
To provide high-quality strategic and logistical support to communications team, and across the organization. Will work with senior Public Affairs management to contribute to operational excellence and success of the team.
- Prepare and draft media releases.
- Monitor and respond to media reporting and mailbox.
- Gather information and prepare technically accurate and concise media products, demonstrating a full understanding of topical issues, risks and developing trends.
- Provide logistical support for publications, including calendarizing team schedules, events and participation.
- Monitor traditional and social media, as well as other online information sources, to quickly identify analyze and provide recommendations on risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to weekly and special reports and analysis on sector developments and implications.
- Anticipate and prepare for emerging issues related to new policy and legislation, providing well-informed advice to management and senior leadership on risk mitigation, anticipated stakeholder reactions, and appropriate communications considerations for a regulatory organization.
- Work closely with department colleagues to deliver an integrated, multifaceted communications approach on organizational changes, events and initiatives.
- Additional strategic level public affairs and communications specialist responsibilities as required.
Qualifications :
Education : Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Journalism or Political Science.
Professional Cs : Completion of the Canadian Securities Course or similar industry related courses an asset.
Preferred Work Experience : Communications, media or public affairs administrative experience is a requirement. Regulator or governmental body experience an asset.
