The Position
The General Manager of Health & Human Services and CEO of Public Health oversees a comprehensive department that delivers vital human services to municipal residents. This role encompasses management of all departmental facets, from daily program delivery to strategic planning and evaluation. Key responsibilities include guiding sectors such as Child Care, Early Years and Recreation, Employment and Social Services, Public Health, Senior Services, and Housing Services.

- Uphold and exemplify Chatham-Kent’s core values in overseeing key areas such as Child Care, Early Years and Recreation, Employment & Social Services, Public Health, Senior Services, and Housing Services.
- Engage in the negotiation and implementation of collective agreements, ensuring fair and just relations with our workforce.
- Promote integrated delivery of social, health, and senior services within the community, fostering collaboration and unified service delivery.
- Manage a multi-million-dollar annual operating budget for the department, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
- Act as Chief Executive Officer for the Board of Health. In shared leadership with the Medical Officer of Health, ensure that the Board’s mandate is effectively met.
- Serve as the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM), overseeing a range of provincially mandated services, upholding both municipal and provincial standards.
- Assume ‘Acting CAO’ duties when necessary, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to organizational excellence.
