Job Description

This is a facilities management position where it’s about creating a welcoming, safe environment where Residents feel comfortable and cared for. The Environmental Service Manager will organize and oversee staffing and required supplies to complete maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, and other building operations in compliance with LTC legislation while ensuring a safe environment for Residents, visitors, and Team Members. If you were working with us as an Environmental Services Manager, here are some of the things you would have done last week:

  • Collaborated with leadership in the home such as the Administrator, other Department Leaders, and the Corporate Director of Environmental Services to identify and prioritize facilities management tasks
  • Managed the daily operation of building systems critical for Resident health such as HVAC - heating, cooling, ventilation and air exchanges, temperature monitoring, plumbing systems, electrical systems, fire and life safety systems, and Building Automation / Management Systems (BAS/BMS)
  • Performed routine repairs, servicing and inspections to keep equipment, furnishings, fixtures and grounds in excellent condition
  • Communicated maintenance repair needs to the Corporate Director of Environmental Services
  • Planned and implemented work routines to meet the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance needs of the Home
  • Participated in decision-making related to Home operations, with a focus on Team Member and Resident health and safety
  • Established and followed preventative maintenance schedules and completed minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, heating systems, windows, and doors
  • Used effective interpersonal skills to lead and support a diverse team
  • Applied financial literacy skills to manage departmental budgets responsibly
  • Referenced PIDAC and/or local Public Health guidance to inform cleaning best practices and respond to legislative or regulatory updates
  • Coordinated the hiring and orientation of new Team Members, monitored performance, and led in-service education sessions and departmental meetings
  • Carried out selection, promotion, transfer, and termination activities in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Supported the Maintenance Department by providing vacation coverage as a working manager
  • Responded to maintenance call-ins, including after-hours or off-hour issues within the Home
  • Worked collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support Home operations
  • Coordinated and led the Home-wide Health and Safety Program

When you apply, if you have your credentials, we will try our best to reach out to you within the week (hopefully within a few days). When you’re eligible with us for benefits, you can expect a variety of them:

  • Flexibility in shift scheduling to support your home life
  • When eligible, you can enjoy full range of extended Health benefits
  • Pension/RRSP matching
  • And many Company Events like our annual recognition parties, team theme parties, lunches, outings, gift cards, and paid days off

We prioritize promoting from within and support our employees' educational needs because we care for the team we have put together. We come to our workplace each day understanding that we are entering our Residents' Home, and we are there to support them. While we don't take ourselves seriously, we take our jobs seriously and love to have fun with each other and the Residents!
