About Us:

Rochester Aluminum Smelting Canada Limited (“Rochester Aluminum” or the “Company”) is a family-owned and operated business with more than three decades of experience in Aluminum Smelting. The Company’s roots trace back to 1957, when a small scrap metal operation was started to support a growing family. What began modestly has since grown into a long-standing business built on hard work, curiosity, and pride.

  • A legacy driven company led by the next generation, blending experience, craftsmanship, and fresh ideas.
  • Close-knit, supportive team where your contributions are valued and learning from experienced professionals is part of the job.
  • Culture that is built on growth, continuous improvement, and pride in doing meaningful work.
  • A place to build a long-term career and make a real impact.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Production Lead/Production Operator to join our team and play an important role in keeping our production operations running safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll help run production lines, coordinate daily workflow, monitor production goals, and support the team on the floor. You’ll work closely with production employees, Maintenance, and other departments to address equipment, quality, and operational issues and keep production moving.

You’ll also have the opportunity to coach and train employees, support onboarding, contribute to continuous improvement, and help build a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace. If you’re a reliable, safety-minded team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment and is ready to take on a leadership role, this could be a great fit for you.

Vacancy Status: This is an ongoing recruitment pool.

What You’ll Do:

  • Production and Operations: Run production lines, assign work based on production schedules and operational priorities, and monitor production output to help achieve daily goals.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction, coaching, training, and performance feedback to production employees and assist with onboarding and employee development.
  • Equipment and Downtime: Monitor equipment performance, address operational issues promptly, and work with Maintenance to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
  • Quality: Help ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards, complete routine inspections, investigate quality concerns, and support corrective actions.
  • Safety and Procedures: Follow company policies, procedures, operational requirements, and workplace health and safety requirements. Promptly communicate safety, equipment, production, and quality concerns.
  • Documentation: Ensure production documentation and required records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify training needs, support employee development, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Team Support: Work closely with other departments to resolve production and quality issues and jump in to support the team where needed.
  • General: Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Industrial Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience in foundries, aluminum manufacturing, fabrication, heavy industrial, and/or construction environments is an asset.
  • Leadership Experience: Previous supervisory or lead-hand experience is preferred, with the ability to provide direction and support to production employees.
  • Equipment Experience: Minimum 6 months of forklift experience. Skid steer, front-end loader, or other heavy equipment experience is an asset. Training will be provided.
  • Safety-Minded: Ability to understand and follow workplace safety instructions, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Communication and Leadership: Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the ability to respond to operational issues and prioritize effectively.
  • Reliable and Adaptable: Reliable, punctual, willing to learn, and comfortable taking on additional responsibilities as required.
  • Quality-Focused: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working in a heavy industrial environment, including elevated temperatures, airborne dust, elevated noise levels, moving equipment, industrial machinery, and molten aluminum.

What’s In It For You:

You’ll join a team that rewards great work with competitive pay, a positive atmosphere, and real chances to shine. You’ll have solid group benefits, a health care spending account, paid sick days when you need them, free on-site parking, and a relaxed dress code that keeps things comfortable while you get things done.
