Description

The Senior Manager, Imaging and Validation (I&V), is responsible for delivering and sustaining superior quality in images and data for our subscribers. Reporting to the Director of Images and Services, the Senior Manager will lead the development of high-performing, integrated teams, offering mentorship to direct reports and collaborating closely with production and business support teams.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of GS1 Canada’s data content across various platforms and will cultivate strong relationships with subject matter experts (SMEs) across the organization. They will act as a key liaison between business, functional areas, and technology, ensuring that data-related business requirements for maintaining data integrity are clearly defined, communicated, and integrated into operational planning and prioritization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the photography, quality control, and editing teams; providing strong direction, motivation, and coaching tailored to each team member’s experience level. Participate in formal performance management and development planning for all direct reports;
  • Create the center of excellence to ensure compliance with GS1 Canada image standards, establish I&V’s quality norms for imaging services and stay ahead of industry trends; Participate in global Office committees to review and update GS1Canada Image standards.
  • Develop a culture around quality control and quality assurance by establishing a knowledge base training program supported by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP);
  • Bring imaging expertise to GS1 Canada account management teams with our capabilities and alignment with industry needs
  • Support the Industry Managed Solutions (IMS) team with positioning existing and new services with regards to costing / operationalization and showcasing I&V’s capabilities;
  • Collaborate closely with the Production team to implement strategies that enhance the Subscriber experience, drive employee development, and create operational efficiencies. Ensure teams perform at an optimal level, contributing positively to the department’s key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Oversee quality management processes, including providing feedback to the photography team and subcontractors (outsourcing), to drive continuous improvement. Review workflow management reports to optimize team resources, capacity planning, and training and development;
  • Foster a safety-first culture and promote professional excellence, integrity, and dependability within the team. Maintain an ongoing understanding of emerging technologies and services provided by GS1 Canada, ensuring the team is well-prepared for future advancements;
  • Build and maintain strong inter-departmental relationships across Montreal and Toronto, ensuring effective communication and adherence to department and corporate policies and procedures;
  • Seek continuous process improvement opportunities by actively gathering customer feedback and managing a continuous learning environment. Execute training programs associated with GS1 Canada standards and services;
  • Oversee vendor management and make strategic decisions regarding the use of subcontractors (outsourcing) to optimize costs and recoveries. Lead the introduction of new services to the GS1 portfolio as needed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • University degree in business or a related subject;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience managing high performing medium to large teams;
  • Experience in a photography or warehouse operation is considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities. Capable of evaluating operational business processes and making sound, confident decisions backed by solid reasoning;
  • Proven ability to drive improvements, manage documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and apply Lean Sigma or 5S methodologies;
  • Be intellectually curious and able to diplomatically challenge the status quo;
  • Champion in culture of creativity, collaboration, diversity and innovation;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels;
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver business presentations and reports;
  • Positive, can-do attitude with a curious entrepreneurial spirit. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and manage competing priorities effectively;
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to generate reports and summaries;
  • French and English (Bilingual), due to frequent communications with subscriber, outsourcers and our other GS1 offices across Canada and overseas.
