Position Summary : The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely manufacture of ingredients, work-in-process, and finished goods while meeting customer service, safety, quality, and cost requirements. This role involves managing personnel, facilities, and operations within the factory to achieve production standards and support the company’s goals for continuous improvement.

Principal Accountabilities :

  • Safety Compliance : Create and maintain a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety policies and promoting safe work practices.
  • Production Standards : Set, monitor, and evaluate production performance standards, ensuring accurate downtime tracking to identify top losses, emerging issues, and root causes for corrective actions.
  • Operational Goals : Meet site goals related to safety, quality, and compliance, including Safety TRIR, Right First Time, Spoilage / MUDA, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation standards.
  • Process Improvement : Assist in developing and refining work procedures, business processes, and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Policy Adherence : Ensure adherence to safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures across the factory.
  • Independent Execution : Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability.
  • SQF System Oversight : Lead and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SQF system, in alignment with company policies on Management Responsibility.

Basic Requirements :

  • Experience : Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience in a food processing or manufacturing facility.

  • Desired Skills :

  • Decision-Making : Ability to assess options and make sound decisions with an acute understanding of human behavior and factory operations, particularly regarding Safety, Quality, Production, and Cost.
  • Industry Experience : Previous experience in the food processing industry is an asset.
  • Labor Relations : Experience working with a collective bargaining workforce is beneficial.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with CFIA regulations and experience in a CFIA-inspected facility is an asset.
  • Education : Post secondary education in a related field.
  • Project management experience.
