Job description

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Payroll Administration & Compliance

  • Process regular and irregular payrolls, including earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, and adjustments, in compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Validate payroll results, identify discrepancies, and ensure data accuracy before final processing.
  • Apply payroll legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies to daily payroll activities

Systems, Reporting & Controls

  • Use payroll and financial systems (such as ADP Workforce Now) to enter, review, and maintain payroll data.
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and documentation to support financial reporting and statutory filings.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including T4s, Records of Employment, and taxable benefit reporting.

Collaboration & Support

  • Respond to routine payroll inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the other Payroll Officer to review work, resolve routine issues, and escalate complex matters when required.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance to ensure payroll data aligns with approved staffing and financial records.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field (preferred).
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute (required).
  • Approximately three (3) years of progressive payroll experience in a payroll or finance environment.
  • Experience processing payroll in a complex organization and using payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older to apply.
  • Must reside in Atlantic Canada.

Professional Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment within defined procedures and guidelines.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for routine payroll issues.
  • High level of discretion and commitment to confidentiality.

Assets:

  • Experience processing full‑cycle payroll, including retroactive adjustments and year‑end activities
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and statutory deductions; experience with enterprise payroll systems (e.g., ADP)

Work Location & Flexibility

  • During Probation: Full-time in-office, based in Moncton, NB.
  • After Probation: Choose full‑time in office or hybrid (2-3 days/week onsite)

Compensation

  • Salary Band: $52,000 - $78,000
  • Expected Hiring Range: $55,000 - $65,000 (based on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity)

Recruitment Process

Internal Candidates

Internal applicants must be in good standing, which includes meeting expectations on their most recent performance review. Performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, attendance, mandatory training, and other performance‑related factors may be considered. A Predictive Index (PI) assessment will also be conducted or shared with hiring managers.

Eligibility to Work in Canada

Candidates must have all required work permits, visas, and authorizations and be eligible to work in Canada at the time an offer is made. It is the candidate's responsibility to secure these requirements.
