About Us
The Office of Addictions and Mental Health (OAMH) works closely with the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK) Mental Health and Addictions programs (MHAP). OAMH also works and partners with numerous community-based organizations to fund and support the delivery of important mental health and addiction services. In addition to traditional mental health and addiction support, our work also includes interventions and actions that will help address the social determinants of health, including collaboration with our partners within and across government departments.
About Our Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity that is focused on engagement and relationship building with key community, government and sector partners. This role also manages dynamic projects and provides policy and strategy advice for mental health and addictions related initiatives.
Primary Accountabilities
As the Community Liaison Coordinator :
- You are a key member of OAMH team, providing guidance and leadership on the Community Wellness Framework and community engagement.
- You support the current community and partner grant programs including providing advice and oversight on standards, accountability, and reporting.
- You lead and Contribute evidence-informed analysis to important investment, policy and strategy initiatives and recommendations, ensuring a focus on a community, health system and equity lens.
- You will manage dynamic projects and processes by working collaboratively with multiple partners across community, government and the health system settings.
Qualifications and Experience
As the successful candidate you have a post-secondary degree in a related discipline (e.g. social science or health and human services) and several years of related experience. An acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Graduate degrees in a related field and work experience in the field of addictions and mental health would be considered as asset.

Working Conditions
a) Physical Effort
Job is spent predominantly working at a computer with occasional phone use. Occasionally moves / lifts light objects such as office supplies, equipment, and boxes of files. This job involves some in province travel.
b) Physical Environment
Work is located in a comfortable office environment.
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with opportunity to move about. Ergonomic tools are available to reduce repetitive strain injuries.
c) Sensory Attention
Environment can experience periods of time of high stimulation due to receipt of multiple email / phone correspondence requiring time-sensitive response. Attention to detail is paramount to ensure decisions / actions are in compliance with the legislation.
d) Mental Pressures
Must be able to balance multiple priorities and produce high-quality, accurate results while dealing with time pressures and changing deadlines / schedules, periods of time where volume of work is high, and conflicting demands from various internal and external sources – all which must be responded to efficiently and in a respectful manner.

What We Offer
Pay Grade : EC 11
Salary Range : $3,351.92 - $4,189.95 Bi-Weekly
