South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB ChurchBritish Columbia, CAPosition DescriptionLooking to secure an Intern for Student Ministry (Part-Time)About South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB ChurchSouth Vancouver Pacific Grace Mennonite Brethren Church (SVPGMBC) is an English- and Cantonese-speaking church located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. We are a member of the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and British Columbia Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.Who We AreAt its inception, SVPG Church was made up of Hong Kong immigrant families, so its English Ministry (EM) was composed mainly of the children of Chinese Ministry (CM) members. Over the past couple of decades, some EM members who grew up in the church have transitioned elsewhere while new people who did not have family roots within SVPG have joined the church’s membership either through baptism or membership transfer. By God’s grace, we have an average of around 60-70 people who attend our in-person services each Sunday (40-50 still view the livestream) including 10+middle-aged CM members who intentionally join EM ministry in order to support our EM brothers and sisters (some via mentorship relationships). One unique blessing in the EM is the Lord building up more than a dozen families with young children (infants, toddlers, and children) many of whom have formed young family’s small groups. During the pandemic, our church has lost a significant number of our high school and college aged young people, so there is a desire to rebuild the youth and young adult ministry. In the recent few years, the Lord has brought older English-speaking adults into the EM and so a mature adults Sunday school has recently begun. The Lord has given a vision to the whole church for moving towards a vision where the EM takes on the leadership baton. This vision is seen in more leadership representation from EM (there is an equal number of board members represented from both CM and EM, and our church has called an English-speaking Senior Pastor), and there have been tangible ways over the years in which the church has given freedom for EM to do worship, discipleship, and outreach. Go to svpgmbc.org to read more about our church history on our website.Internship PurposeOur church’s Student Life Ministry consists of high school and college aged individuals. Like most of the churches in Greater Vancouver Area, our ministry suffered greatly through the pandemic and is in the process of being rebuilt. We are looking for an intern who can help develop and implement comprehensive Student Life Ministry in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. We expect the potential candidate to provide 15 to 20 hour services a week working with students in ministry and we are willing to offer tuition scholarship and additional financial benefits. If you are interested, please send your resume in confidence to the attention of Rev. Charlie Chun or contact us at for more information.
