Job Purpose

To oversee the production of wood wafers by processing logs through Waferizer and Debarker.

In this position you will have the opportunity to :

• Operates equipment controls to regulate speed of logs on conveyor, to cut logs and transfer wafers to set bins
• Coordinates process with Dryer Operator and Crane Operator
• Assists in changing knives, as needed
• Identifies control panel problems and operational problems
• Blows down waferizer area to maintain clean equipment
• Corrects log jams; unplugs bark from belts
• Monitors wafers going to wet bins and removes oversized wafers
• Expected to maintain 100% compliance with Environmental, Housekeeping standards, policies for area
• Expected to train other designated individuals safely and efficiently in operation of Waferizers
• Inspects and conducts routine preventative maintenance on Waferizers, Debarkers, Bark Systems
• Carry out Strand Geometry analysis and prepare reports
• Understand knife projections / knife angle and how to reduce variation to produce proper flake
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
• Complete control plans and operational check sheets to monitor production process
• Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities as necessary
