Responsibilities
SUMMARY :
The Data Centre Design Analyst is responsible for the design and implementation of on- and off-premise data centre infrastructure, including physical servers and chassis, storage, virtualization and hypervisors, cloud-based services, remote systems hosting, infrastructure process automation, hardware racking, cable management, data centre and communications room cooling and power management, data backup and archival systems and processes, systems and facilities management software, and related products.
Performs the role of technical Project Leader for data centre infrastructure and TransLink and operating companies’ facility construction projects. Oversees operational deployment of new and upgraded database and middleware technologies. Participates in prototyping and proof of concept activities to inform technology selection. Assesses technical design requirements and translates into system specifications. Provides expertise and assistance to Enterprise staff concerning data centre infrastructure and facilities requirements.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Requires a diploma or degree in computer science or related discipline from a recognized institute of technology. Related industry standard technical or security certifications are an asset.
EXPERIENCE
Requires six (6) years previous experience in an information systems environment involving the design, installation, troubleshooting and in support of enterprise data centre, technical facilities, and cloud infrastructure with a significant focus on and knowledge of design and implementation practices, and data centre environment supporting relevant power management, cooling, and cable management.
A further period of up to one (1) year on the job is required to become thoroughly familiar with the enterprise architecture plan, BTS policies and standards and its specific data centre, technical facilities, and cloud technologies and infrastructure components.
Expert level skills in the following will be an asset :
Data centre hardware and configuration (servers / chassis, storage, and related equipment)
Racking, cable management, cooling, and power management
Server operating systems and virtualization hypervisor technologies
Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and remediation of server, storage, cloud, or virtualization related issues
High level of proficiency in the following will be an asset :
Systems backup, recovery, and resiliency technologies for both on premise and cloud
Network Attached Storage and Storage Area Network design and deployment
Network hardware deployment
Fibre Optic cabling and design
High availability and highly resilient system configuration
Software defined infrastructure.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must hold a valid class 5 driver’s licence.
Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 50 lbs.
Other Information
This role requires travel between operation sites. A company vehicle may be available in most instances, however there may be times personal transportation is required to transport and work at the sites.
Recruitment Process : An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Rate of Pay
Salary $8,714 - $10,464 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
